Who Requires the Australia Visitor Visa?

Eligibility Requirements

Visa-Exempt: Who Doesn’t Need to Apply for an Australia Visitor Visa?
- Citizens of countries that qualify for an Australia ETA or an Australia eVisitor Visa.- New Zealand citizens, who are granted a Special Category Visa (subclass 444) on arrival.- Chinese citizens need to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) - Frequent Traveler stream instead.- Business travelers need to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) - Business Visitor stream instead.

Australia Visitor Visa Validity: How Long Can I Stay?
The Visitor Visa can be granted as a single-entry or multiple-entry permit, valid for 12 months with a stay of 3, 6, or 12 months, determined case-by-case. It's possible to get a visa valid for more than 12 months if you are the parent or step-parent of an Australian citizen or permanent resident and meet all the criteria, but you can't stay more than 12 months total in any 18-month period.
Required Documents for Australia Visitor Visa:
- A recent, colored passport photo meeting Australian guidelines.- A scanned copy of the bio-data page of your passport and all stamped visa and endorsement pages. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay or at least 6 months beyond your intended arrival date.- A copy of your national identification card.- Evidence of financial capability to support your stay, like pay slips, tax records, or bank statements for a 3-month period.- An invitation letter if visiting a relative or friend in Australia.- Your travel itinerary.- Proof of ties to your home country, such as a title deed, employer letter, school enrollment letter, marriage certificate, or children’s birth certificates.- Evidence of meeting character requirements, like a police clearance certificate.

- A copy of the child’s birth certificate showing the names of both parents.- Proof of legal guardianship if the biological parents don’t have legal guardianship.- Certified copies of adoption papers or parental court orders, if applicable.- A statutory declaration if the parent(s)/guardian is not traveling with the child.
